Anna Peluso Simonson  PhD, CEP, CSCS, EIM-111

Health Coach

I am so thrilled to be partnering with Wonsettler Physical Therapy and Specialized Health to create Wonsettler Whole Health. My passion is to empower people to live healthier lives through education, training, and behavior change. This passion began in high school when I realized that I did not want to experience the hip replacements, knee replacements, and other health problems that my family members were enduring. Through my desire to help myself, I’ve also learned how to help others. I have over 10 years of experience working with health behavior change in the areas of exercise, nutrition, sleep, and mental health. I believe that you have to meet people where they are. I believe that you can start where you are. I believe that you can do what you can with what you got. I believe that, in the words of Jess Sims, one of my favorite Peloton instructors, “You don’t have to, you get to!”

I earned a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) degree from the University of Pittsburgh in 2016. I am a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) through the National Strength and Conditioning Association, a Certified Clinical Exercise Physiologist and Exercise is Medicine Level III Provider through the American College of Sports Medicine, and a Certified Mental Health Facilitator through the National Board for Certified Counselors. I have publications in the Journal of Aging and Health, Obesity Science and Practice, and Health Behavior and Policy Review. I work as an Associate Professor of Exercise Science at John Carroll University where I teach Human Nutrition, Exercise Physiology for Special Populations, and Motor Learning. Not shockingly, in my free time, I enjoy almost all forms of exercise, cooking, hanging out with my husband Andy, and playing with my dog Nellie.
